Re: A major disappointment to Democrats hoping for a political edge....
It's one thing to say an action or an inaction is responsible for deaths. It's quite another to say that someone would be disappointed if more people didn't die.

Re: A major disappointment to Democrats hoping for a political edge...
You help me prove my point. That post of mine is dated 9/3 (Saturday) after the facts of what really happened started to come out.
You don't post any threads from 8/30 (Tuesday) or 8/31 (Wednesday) before the facts were out and yet there was all sorts or anti-Bush attacks going on without any facts behind them. It is the phony non-fact based attacks that are disrespectful to hurricane victims, not accurate discussions of what happened. Democrats in Washington conducted a smear campaign before the facts were in, and now they are disappointed that is has largely failed. |

[ QUOTE ] but we should not forget those who were jumping to take political advantage of a big death toll. [/ QUOTE ] Completely unlike what the republicans did in 2004 right? Melch [/ QUOTE ] Even if that were true, does it make it right to do it now? |

Re: A major disappointment to Democrats hoping for a political edge....
[ QUOTE ]
At a time when we should have all been working together to help people, politics was being played in Washington. [/ QUOTE ] Are you saying that this adminstration can't walk and chew gum at the same time? Can they not manage a natural disaster, a war in Iraq, and cricism from the people they are oath-bound to serve? WHEN is exactly the right time to talk about FAILURES and get THOSE problems fixed? There were multiple failures both recent and historic, at every level of government, Federal, state and local. When Bush finally deigned to end his vacation, and show up in LA, guess what? Suddenly there are military personnel and food and water supplies etc.(OK so a lot of those supplies disappeared when his photo op was over) How many lives could have been saved if Bush had shown up on Monday or Tuesday instead of giving stump speeches in AZ and CA? Whatever political advantage might be taken out of this situation is NOT dependent on body counts. But the cornered, wounded dog, will bite back, won't he? |
