Default Explain Hi hand

Just finished a Ohaha/8 tournament and the following hand has me baffled..I won both Hi and Lo with the following: My hand (10 3 4 3) Opponents hand (A 9 J K) board 8 7 5 6 4 Why didn't my opponent win high with a 9 high straight??

You have to use exactly 2 cards from your hand and 3 from the board. Opponents high hand is ace high (assuming no flushes).
