Default m3 flash player

Hi,
I want to get my first mp3 flash player. Basically something
that I can take to the gym and which looks good. Considering

Ipod Nano
Sony MWe507
Samsung YT something or other

How do the downloads work ? I have alot of mp3 on my computer.
Will I hava any problem with the proprietary software of the
Sony or the Ipod ?

Is it worthwhile getting some fancy headphones for these ?

Other uses :
Can I use the Ipod to see pdf files ?
Are any of these useful to carry data files to other computers ? Say text files or pdf's ?

Thanks !

Seriously man, don't use good looks as criteria for this kind of stuff. I think most of the flash based players are pretty simple really, so there might not be a whole lot of difference between the different brands. They should have plug n play capability just like a regular USB storage device. Plug it into the USB port and the computer should see it as a new drive, where you can put audio files or PDF files, midget porn or what have you. Since you want to use it in the gym I'd suggest getting some aftermarket headphones that won't fall out of your ears so easily.

That's about it.

Eventually, they'll probably have ipod linux for the nano, that can probably view pdf files, although the tiny screen size could be a detriment. You could convert your pdf's to a series of images, too, I guess.

I doubt they've ported it to the video yet. Do a google search for ipod linux, I guess. I haven't got it running, yet, not a lot of motivation. You can get doom on there, though, which is nice.
