Well, I'm probably dropping down to 1/2.

Saturday night was a terrific rollercoaster ride. I started off down 45 BB and was about to hit the point my stop limit of 250 BB in my bankroll. Slowly but surely, I crawled out of the cellar and after 932 hands and 4+ hours, I was finally back to even. Within the next hour, I made 40 BB and called it a night.

Then Sunday night struck. People, let me just say from the bottom of my colon that I dare you - I double-dog dare you - I defy you to find a streak of cards in your history worse than the one I endured. Pretty much any ace not paired with another ace or a suited king was a loser, as were KK/QQ/JJ. So far as I can tell, my PT stats all pretty much stayed in line, and my postflop play was generally aggressive but not stupid. Down 90 BB on the night (about 1k hands), my BR sits at 262 BB and I seriously have to consider dropping down a level.

I'm trying to keep in mind that a 90 BB downswing for 1k hands is uncommon but statistically probably and has to turn around at some point. It's a bitter pill to swallow, however, because I'm confident my play will beat this level in the long run. At about the 900-hand mark, I finally tilted a little - I just couldn't accept that the below hands could continue losing like they had all day. (of course, I think I saved money by capping the first one)

In any case, if I can take something positive out of the weekend, it is that I helped plug a major hole for a fellow 2+2er, and during my downstreak he was up almost an equal amount (in terms of BB) at .5/1. Congrats Sumdumaz!

Funny, because I had the same experience this weekend.

I play at the .5/$1. I had lost with AA, KK, QQ (after flopping a queen, giving a set). I was playing shorthanded, got dealt KK twice in 5 hands, only to have them BOTH lose.

I had a hand TPTK, only to have a guy draw to a set on the river.

Saturday, I lost about 25 BB, found a way to comeback to +55BB, only to hit an absolutely terrible run, and wound up down 48 BB. I decided to take a break for a day or 2.

I'm still deep in the black. Not counting my bonus, in 1500 hands, I'm up almost $170. My initial stake was $215.

I started at UB .01/.02 near the beginning of August, did about 750 hands, and switched over to Pokerstars .02/.04, have done 450 hands so far. Very early going obviously, but so far I've started out really strong on both services and then went into the tank (where I currently am to the tune of about 50BB) for a bit. My current overall win rate is 20BB/100 hands.

My next milestone is to reach 5,000 hands and move to .05/.10 if all is going well.

Excellent. I started at .5/1, does the play change that much from nano .01/.02 to .02/.04 and then upwards?

Can't say for upwards, but I've seen no noticable difference between .01/.02 UB and .02/.04 PS (I moved primarily because I was fed up with dealing with hand histories from UB).... in both cases the tables can range from surprisingly tight to wild raise-fests. Last night was probably my worst night yet.. the table was kind of loose-passive and I folded a lot of hands preflop while watching people bet K6o, flop a 6, and then win when a king came on the river after the turn got checked all the way around etc. etc. Meanwhile none of my strong hands panned out. I admit it was demoralizing & I was probably on tilt at some point... it'll be better tonight I'm sure

Way to go, RR!

I guess I should post an update as well:

The first of this month, I started playing 1/2 full-time. It was a little rough at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. Since then, I've been 3-tabling PP 1/2 and throwing in the occasional Pacific 2/4. Last weekend, I finally hit $1200 (300BB for 2/4) and replaced one of the 3 tables with a PP 2/4 table. After a rocky start, I seem to be on track. I plan to swap out one 1/2 for a 2/4 table every $200 until I'm 3-tabling 2/4.

Overall stats
Hands: 24K
VP$IP: 19.65
BB/100: 5.38
PFR%: 6.93
Tot-A (post-flop): 1.67 (need to work on this!)

Excellent! Good to hear from you. Your PFR% seems a bit low for 2/4 but other than that...looks good. Small enough sample that your PFR might be just on.

Sounds like a good plan on table transitions.
