Default Last round, no bets, can you ask to see

i have a Q regarding no limit tourneys.. in a hand with pre flop raises and little or no betting after the board has been dealt, perhaps a small bet on the flop and there are no bets after the river, and you announce and show your hand, the others just muck.. can you ask to see their hands? i understand the general rule is pay to see, but was curious if this situation you can ask

I'm not sure I understand the question, but I think you are asking any hand that reaches the showdown, whether they muck or not, can you ask to see their hand. In most casinos from what i understand yes you can. In most online poker rooms, you can check hand history to see what they mucked.

{pulling soapbox on stage, mounting same}

While you are allowed to ask to see any hand that reaches the showdown, please understand that it is considered bad ettiquette to do so. The rule exists as an anti-collusion measure, so if you ask to see someone's hand, you are effectively accusing them of collusion.

The vast majority of players don't know the reason for the rule; they just want to know how someone plays. Just understand that, if you invoke this procedure, you will make the game a lot more unfriendly, and the procedure will likely start to be invoked against you.

My suggestion is to quietly stack your chips and go on to the next hand. You will see enough showdowns as part of the normal course of the game to get a line on the other players.

Live or online, if the other player(s) muck, scoop up your chips and be thankful for the pot.

You may have had trash too but having them concede the hand is wonderful.

That is, unless you want to put them on tilt by saying "You called me with Jack high?!?"
