My kids friends think we're weird because nobody down here in Texas has applesauce with pork chops. This was standard in Jersey.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think I've ever had pork chops w/o applesauce. IF I am in an aisle in the grocery store, and I see someone buying applesauce I always look to see if they have pork chops in the cart. 95% of the time they do. Texas is f'd up.

WTF? Pork chops and applesauce? I've never heard of that. Sounds kinda tasty though.

we do applesauce and pork in the UK too.

I sometimes cook liver, and add a dollop of plum jam (jelly??) on the side.

-Cooked egg noodles with a scoop of [cold] cottage cheese and sprinkled cinnimon.
-Mashed potatoes and mustard--which for you non-New Yorkers is basically like a skinless knish.

A knish is a fried, pocket sandwich filled with spiced, smashed potatoes. Traditionally, they are square (about 3"x3"x1"), with a cornbread skin, and are sold by hot dog venders on the streets of NYC.

I make mine at home from leftover mashed potatoes, inside of a rolled up 8"x11" pizza dough skin; after it is cooked I cut it up into 1"-2" slices. Consequently, mine has more of the shape and taste of a potatoe calzone.
