come on sweetness was better, and any old dude will tell you that nobody was better than Jim Brown. Barry could make people miss, but sweetness could make them miss AND run over them.

There is a strong case that Earl Campbell in his prime (which was very short) was the best ever.

All this depends on how you define greatness....was it who had the best pure ability for any one season, or who had the best pure ability over the course of a career....i'm not sure barry sanders would be considered the 'best' in any of these contests.
