How many tables does the Crown poker room have?

What limits and game did Hachem regularly play before the ME win?

Are there any other poker rooms in Australia?

Like many others I congratulate Joe Hachem on winning the WSOP ME.

To address some of the points raised in this thread, Crown Casino has approx 25 tables. It spreads limit holdem games between 4-8 to 20-40 (full table) and 25-50 short. The biggest regular game is 5 card stud (half pot limit), this game does play BIG as the wealthly melburnians love it. Crown runs many competitions during the year, including the AUSSIE Millions in January. It also has a regular series of smaller buy in tournies (approx $75-500).

I have played with Joe on a couple of occasions, he always plays in the biggest game on offer (hold em only). From my limited experience, Joe has done well in many of the small tournaments. I have it on good authority he is a successful online player. I hope this does a little to answer some of the questions regarding Joe and Crown poker room.

regards

graeme

Hey I was excited, couldnt believe a Melburnian was in line to win the big one! Every time I checked he was still there. It was pretty exciting to have an Aussie doing so well.
I am not a Crown regular, but to re-iterate (& paraphrase Big Kev), I was excited!!

Hmmmmm....... what can I say, fair enough.

First of all I congadulate the new champ. I am happy that his victory has energized the poker comunity in Austarlia. He seems like a nice guy and obvsiously a hell of a player. I assume he will really blow up when this show airs and we get to see the new champin action.
Once again congrats Joe Hachem

As an Aussie wanna be player I'm stoked at a fellow Aussie winning. Poker is already a boom here, hopefully this will blast it into the stratosphere.

Russ, On Hewitt, A lot of Aussies dislike him intensely as well. He can play but so what, doesn't excuse his attitude.

For the record there a plenty of Casino's in Oz, from memory, Crown (Melb), Star City (Sydney), Burswood (Perth), Lassiters (Alice Springs), The Adelaide Casino (Adelaide), Casino Canberra (Canberra), Jupiters (Gold Coast), Wrest Point (Tasmania) and Conrads Casino (Brisbane). I think I've got them all.

All the Aussies coming out of the woodwork.

I'm hoping this does alot for poker in Australia. There are plenty of Casino's in Australia as Double mentioned. You missed Darwin, Townsville and Cairns, but I think that's about all. Been to em all hehe

Unfortunately alot of the Casino's don't have poker rooms, and the ones they do have are pretty pitifull. Burswood for example is pitifull, 3 tables, and has gone downhill in recent years. They don't even spread holdem. Australians have a fascination for Manilla for some reason. Crown is the best cardroom in Australia. Hopefully Star in Sydney will pick up as their cardroom is relatively new.

Fingers crossed poker in Australia is on the up.

Im getting the impression that my excitement isn't shared by anyone else

The difference is he is unknown to us in the USA where you actually have some knowledge of him. I had my personal favorites who I was rooting for and both of them got drawn out on. So after my favorites were eliminated I became bummed out and rather apathetic on who actually won.

When I played with Joe we played 10/20 plh.

Maybe it's time for me to finally write my Aussie Millions trip report. It will now have to include how I cracked Joes Aces with a turned flush for 6000+ pot.

My sincere congratulations!!!! Two of my friends that were listening on the web cast both commented about how cool it was that the Aussie won because of the fans in the crowd with the "oy, oy, oy's". Not only will it be good for Australian poker, but I think it will make for some great tv.

I spent about 2 weeks at the Crown last summer and had a great time. Someone had commented that they thought the Poker Million had helped create interest, hopefully this will accelerate things even more. I remember a lot of faces and great people from the Crown but the only name I remember is "Chevy"...a very nice guy with a great sense of humor...if you know him tell him that Dan from America said "hi".
