If you want to see if you can handle the real thing, try to find a bottle of Dutch oude jenever ('old' gin).

I'm a Citadelle kinda gal, but my roommate has a bottle of Hendricks, and that makes an excellent and gorgeous gin and tonic when you add slices of cucumber floating in the glass.

Hendricks is infused with cucumber, along with the usual ingredients like juniper, etc.
