preflop: raise more
flop: bet more
turn: bet more

no you can not lay this down but it's not even an issue if you follow the above.

i'm not suggesting overbetting the pot.

you need to raise more preflop because the odds you are offering him are too good when you minraise and you want to win more when he flops a lower top pair or a smaller overpair.

you need to bet more on the flop because there are tons of hands that are drawing to beat you and a weak $6 bet is going to invite bluffing that you don't seem to want.

you need to bet more on the turn because you are really asking for him to call and draw on the river to beat you and take your stack when he straightens/fold when he misses. you have top set now you need to get enough money in that if he has pair+str8 draw etc he gets allin by the river.

my advice to you is, when you have a premium pair out of position, bet big preflop and on a flop of unders most every time (dependent somewhat on opposition and flop texture) and give them your stack when they flop a set in position like this and they are a typical party monkey. you will win more in the long run from top pair/smaller overpair and the like.

actually the converter must be messed up because it looks like your raise was too small to be legal. you actually made it $5, right? thats a minumim raise. a potsized raise is to $9.5. i would have made it 8ish at least.

by the way if thats all you have to say about the pot i won't bother you with commenting on your hands any more.

how is a minraise "nearly max"?

.5+.5+2.75+.25 + your 2.75 call = preraise pot of $6.75

6.75+2.75 => you could have made it $9.5 to go
