Re: I\'d like to share an interesting quote from an interesting book.
[ QUOTE ]
"Researchers have concluded that speaking the correct form of words and thinking the correct thoughts actually changes a person's DNA." I would appreciate your comments on this statement as well. Thank you guys for taking the time to read this. [/ QUOTE ] Thinking good thoughts doesn't seem to improve my chances of hitting a flush draw on the turn or river, much less improve the cards in my hand. Until someone does a reputable double-blind study that suggests they do, I don't plan to discuss the topic further on this forum. Maybe that's just me. |

Re: I\'d like to share an interesting quote from an interesting book.
[ QUOTE ]
The placebo effect is when a person is given a "placebo," which is in effect nothing, yet their disease is cured. [/ QUOTE ] This doesn't prove squat. Of course the placebo effect exists, but it by no means proves that the patients' thoughts alone cured the disease. It could be that the person's body cured itself, the person was not really sick, or the person had some sort of psychological disorder that made them think they were ill. And I know because I have an undergraduate degree in finance. |
