Default Vegas in mid-November

We are headed to Vegas in mid november and have not played in a B&M casino before. I play online limit some at full tilts .25/.5 and do well. (whenever I switch to party .5/1 I tank. the cards never come through) We win pretty consistantly in our home poker tournaments. Where should we play? We will be staying on the strip.

Thanks in advance

Sorry for the standard response of "check out allvegaspoker.com", but check out allvegaspoker.com. They have everything you need right there.

Good luck.

Thanks... I have slogged through tons of info on their website but did not get a feel for a good place to get started. In our home tournaments the most we ever risked was a $25 buy in. Online, I play .25/.5. I used to play craps and always went to the casino royal across from Ceasers because there was usually a $2 table. Binions used to have a $1 with 100 x odds (weekdays). Anyway, what I was hoping for was folks that have played micro limits and could give suggestions on a good place to start in Vegas for live games and what to expect. It took a while to get comfortable with having two or three hundred sitting on a craps table. I am just looking for insight on my new addiction from the folks who know.

Of places on the strip, I know Luxor has 1/2 limit games. Not sure if any other place has stakes of that or lower. I doubt it.

Excalibur promotes friendly low-limit poker. "Kitchen table". I think it is 2-6 spread or something strange like that. That was my first live casino poker experience about 10 years ago. You should be able to manage a bankroll of 100-200 there fairly easily.

THANKS! Now to decide if I want cocktails served by Cleopatra or Guenevere...

the 1/2 sounds great. It won't take a huge bankroll to play for a few hours and learn the ropes.

There are no "micro limits" in Vegas. You'll be lucky to find $1-2 limit, and 2-4 & 3-6 will be all over. Skill level won't be any different at those limits (= bad). Lowest NL ring game will be $100 buy-in (see allvegaspoker.com for details).

Lowest tourney worth playing (ie, blinds don't rocket up in 30 minutes) in going to run $60 or so.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but if you're planning to goto Vegas with a $.25/50 online bankroll of $150 and then playing all weekend, you'd better win quickly. If all you want is a few hours at the tables, then $100 will work for a while.

Good luck--I'm heading out 10/28 myself and can't wait.

At least two places have a poker lesson on weekday mornings, the Luxor and Excalibur. I don't know the details, but it's cheap and lasts an hour or so which should get you in the swing of things.

I think the Excalibur is better overall, but it really shouldn't matter which poker room you choose on the strip. Players are bad and fairly nice, dealers are nice and fairly good, and there are so many low limit games that if you sit down where no one's laughing or the staff treats you bad, you're five minutes or less from another room.

I would play at Excalibur. 1-3 spread limit, free buffet for poker players served at like 4pm every day except friday and saturday I believe, and horrible competition.

I was just in Vegas a few weeks ago and checked out bunch of different rooms that spread low limits. Excalibur is by far the best to start with. They spread 2-4 and 3-6 fixed limit games now (as well as 1-3 and 2-6 spread), both are eligible for their High Hand and Aces cracked jackpot wheel.

The Lux is a good choice too, but the Jackpot wheel and other perks at Excalibur make it better for low limits.
