Qestionable 88 UI
I'm not sure about this hand. PF is a little thin, but the table had been cc'ing a lot, and I expected at least one of the blinds to come along. Initial raiser is weak-tight. Cold-caller has cc'ed at least three times in the two orbits he's been at the table. Thoughts with your reasons are appreciated.

Re: Qestionable 88 UI
I'd bet the turn, fold to a raise, and check behind on the river. I don't want to give a free card here.

I'm betting the turn, good chance you're ahead. Why give overcards the chance to catch up?

Re: Qestionable 88 UI
Given your read, preflop is okay. Sucks that no one else after you came along.
I'm betting the turn and going for a free showdown. I think this has more value than giving a free card and hoping to catch a bluff, since (1) your hand stands a good chance of being best and (2) there are probably quite a few free cards out there that could hurt you. |

Re: Qestionable 88 UI
The way you played it looks plausible. I might have checked through the flop because I don't think I can fold a preflop raiser and cold caller for one more small bet, and then bet the turn after they checked it to me.

Re: Qestionable 88 UI
If the river was an ace would you have called 1 bet? I would bet the turn, but not fire again on the river. You may very well have the best hand. The pot is not large, but not small. I think you might get a weak raiser to fold enough here to be profitable.

Results (don\'t look b4 responding to the first post!)
I agree with everyone here that betting the turn and ck'ing the river is prolly better than my line. However, it worked out well in this case. MP1 bet the river blank, I called, and UTG+2 folded. MP1 showed AJo and MHWG. I think the key between the turn bet and check is if I'm ahead, I can usually count on both calling, thus gaining 2:1 on my bet, rather than my plan of calling, getting me even money.

More importantly is if they were planning on folding to your turn bet but get a free river and hit their overcard to you than a mathematical disaster has occurred.
