I prefer playing just three tables so I can watch a movie or surf the net in the other quarter of the screen.

wouldn't you prefer to do these things in a 20 inch monitor, rather than a 5 inch monitor?

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but not so much that I'd pay $430 for the pleasure.

I can really only justify the second monitor if I think of it as a poker investment rather than an entertainment expense. If I'm going to spend $430 on entertainment, I'd rather go to a strip club.

So would a second monitor be +EV for me? I'm not sure how often I'd play more than four tables. Maybe quite often once I got in the habit. Or maybe not. That's what I'm trying to figure out.

The poll results and comments in this thread have been helpful. It looks like most people who've gotten a second monitor consider it worthwhile.

I bought a 2nd monitor because I planned to 8-table, and I never got around to adding that many tables. Even so, I use it so much now that using a 1-monitor computer is a huge inconvenience.

Also, where are these coupons of which you speak? I am looking to get another one.

I am attempting to buy this right now, but I can't seem to get the codes to work. Have they expired already?

obviously not, if you're not going to play poker on it.

but is a bigger TV for your living room +EV? you can't think of everything in terms of EV. if it's something you will really enjoy, and you have the money, then buy it.

Not only poker related (I used to be a software developer), but two monitors (with with the same number of pixels in total) are heaps better in terms of screen real estate usage than one. It is a function of ideal windows ratios if you want to know.

If you have more monitor space you will use it.

I have 3 monitors and I rarely play more than 4 tables yet I use all 3 constantly even when not playing poker through some combination of AIM, Music, TV, Web browsing, or homework.

Buy the 2nd FP, you'll use it. I want to buy a 3rd one .

Does anyone else besides me play on 2 computers at once?

I play 4 tables on 1 computer, and 1 table on my old computer. It is confusing switching which mouse to use at first, but after a few hours it comes naturally.
