Value of early bluffing?
2 questions on this that I have been debating with a friend.
1) Is there a value to an early bluff that you show or get called out on? - (i.e. will you get paid later on premium hands when others remember this bluff?) 2) If you agree there is some value above - do micro limit players (say .50/1 at Party) on the whole pay enough attention AND sit a table long enough to make this a positive EV play? Thanks. |

Re: Value of early bluffing?
False advertising can be a good tool but only against thinking opponents.
Party .50/1 players always think you're bluffing anyway. |

Re: Value of early bluffing?
I think advertising is a waste of time. You throw away money to (hopefully) get it back in another hand and that's only going to work once if you even get the opportunity.
Better to keep an image as a tight player - which should be close to your real style anyway. It will allow for occasional uncontested steals. |

Re: Value of early bluffing?
How many times do you want to pay for advertizing? The tables turn over so quickly you'd have to do this every ten minutes for anybody to change their play to target you. There's a better way to "advertize" on every hand you play, it's called being aggressive.
I don't think showing a bluff on purpose is ever worth it micro-limits. Aggressive play as described in SSH will have you value betting and semi-bluffing enough that your table image will be sufficiently crazy to anybody who is paying attention. Remember most players are very passive and when you raise and reraise often you will stand out. I only play 17% of my hands but raise pf 10% of them. I regularly get people at the table whining about my play, telling me to calm down etc.. There's no better feeling than playing good poker and making your opponents think your phucking psycho at the same time. Basically the better you play the more likely you will be called down by table sherrifs so there's no need to throw away bets on a bluff for advertizing. |
