I don't believe the question is meaningless per se, (for that matter I don't believe any question is without some meaning) in fact I think it's one of Sklansky's better questions. (let the dog debacle fade from memory)

But it seems to have an air of ignorance about it seeing as though the Tanakh (TNKH - The "old Jewish bible" aka The Old Testament - albeit with a slightly different order of books) isn't really the foundation of what modern Rabbinic Judaism is today. (The question ignores the "Mishnah" - Oral Law, which was established first century C.E/A.D after the second temple was destroyed)
