Default Preliminary thread for the Super-Magoo Jambouree June 18th at MGM

Either tonight or in the next couple days while I am off work, I am going to head on down to MGM and look to make some preliminary arrangements.

Unless I am told differently, I am going to make the arrangements for June 18th. I figure we'll all start showing up around 7pm and get seated and started by 8pm.

I am going to figure on anywhere from 20-40 players showing up. A roll call and sign up would be helpful here! If you're in, make it known you friggin' drunken donk-head magoos!

I am going to attempt to make arrangements for what will most likely be...

One limit holdem table of either 2-4 or 4-8

One mixed games table of 2-4, 3-6 or 4-8, most likely a HOSER type table (hold'em, O-8, Stud, Stud-8, Razz etc)

One table of either triple draw lowball 2-4, 3-6 or 4-8 or mixed games that include triple draw lowball

If necessary, one late straggler type table, probably 2-4, 3-6 or 4-8 holdem

Hopefully the dealers will be able to handle all this, and handle US. I have confidence in the MGM tho! I also have confidence in the 2+2 crowd that they'll be nice to the dealers and very good tippers to everyone, dealers, wait staff, and floorpeople who are going to put up with our bull-pucky!

I will bring name tags for this and you schmucks will friggin' wear them! That way I can direct the guys with the cattle prod to the right person when you friggin' river my aces with 82o!

As it appears from the various gigantic threads this all spurred from, there wasn't much interest in no limit, nor a tournament, therefore I'm not going to mess with those ideas at this time.

Have your say NOW before it's too late! Get your late bets in early people!

I don't have the bankroll to handle a Magoo 4-8 game, but any of the mixed 2-4 games, I'm in.

I think this sounds great. Thanks for putting in so much work. A couple thoughts:

I'd keep it all 2/4. No need to play any bigger, smaller stakes means more donking/losing before I have to go back to the room broke.

I think it's possible we'll have more people than you may think. 20 seems light and if every 2+2er in Vegas that weekend comes to this event, topping 40 won't be tough.

I won't be wearing a nametag, nor should anyone else.

I will of course be there.

thanks for setting this up.

i'm in. do you think everyone except the two people who play stud and the other two guys who think they have an edge at mixed games will want to play holdem? i'd suggest a 3:1 ratio holdemther, the lower the stakes the better. $1-2 would be ideal, at least for one game. otherwise it ain't magooing.

I'm in. I vote for holdem too, 1-2 or 2-4 is best.

You will probably need 2 2/4 tables, I have a feeling that will be a high-demand game. Other than that, everything JBB said I agree with.

Al: Please reserve my space at the TD 2-7 table. I intend to crush it... but in all honesty it probably won't be a very magooie table, I have a feeling that game will be played rather seriously. CDC - I hope you will be there, you are the only 2-7 2+2er I haven't played yet, its gonna get interesting!

Any rough estimate how many of us are attending? I need to stock up on my "supplies", so many people to trout for the first time!

JBB:

From past experience, the name tags actually helped a bit. When we have a group this big, its easier to manage for us, and MUCH easier for the MGM staff.

At the least perhaps Al can make "trout convention" tags or something silly like that so the MGM staff know to take special care of us. IS that ok for those who are anti-name tags?
