Ruling I Won But Have Never Seen Before
Surely covered before, but I've never seen a dealer not give someone a chance like this.
Casino Rama (N. of Toronto) 5-10. Me and one other at river. He bets, I call. He says, "I rivered a straight" (beats my trips) and then he puts the one needed card for his straight on top of a down card and puts it past the line, not mucked. I put my cards past the line, face down, then decided to turn them up for no particular reason. Dealer takes my cards puts them up top and mucks the other guy's cards after turning the one up card down. Dealer pushes the pot to me. After kerfuffle dealer explains that there has to be a winner for every hand and my hand was the first he seen. Fine, but I've never seen a dealer not say either, "Show 2 cards", or "Turn em over", or even himself turn over the other card when some idjit does this, or even other players yell out, "Show both cards!" Oh well, I won a decent pot but I don't usually see them be so strict. Maybe more like this at higher limit but it seems to be about the same at least as far as 20-40 around here as far as I've seen. |

Maybe this guy has been pulling this crap and has been told/warned before.

There's gotta be more to the story, because this makes almost no sense if there's not.

Maybe this guy has been pulling this crap and has been told/warned before. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think so, pretty quiet guy, no other bs or newbie card room rules mistakes that I saw. The only other thing that I can add is that a couple of dealers later the same thing happened with a dealer telling a player to show both cards after the player showed the single winning card, but letting him do so to win. So, probably just dealer inconsistency. BTW, of course I didn't give the guy [censored] all back, didn't say squat to the guy, but I always feel bad when that kind of thing happens to players. |

Re: Ruling I Won But Have Never Seen Before
I have been seeing similar things around PHX of late too. You must show both cards to win the pot.
At one room you have to have the cards shown in the "box" (corners of the "box" marked on the felt) to win, but they are backing off that too. Some dealers are pushing the pot to the corners and then sliding the hand into the "box", holding them there for a second then scrambling. Likely the dealer was following (too strictly) the house rules. |

This is complete BS. I can't imagine why that dealer shouldn't be fired. I would also not let the dealer push me the pot in this situation.

I agree it's weird. What I'm not understanding is why tha hell the "loser" wasn't screamin' n hollerin' and maybe threatening a nut-kicking?
