Default I\'m stupid. Enlighten me.

I just cashed out from Pokerstars. The amount I deposited got immediately applied to my NETeller account, and all of my winnings are still pending.

Now here is where I have questions. Why is it that it takes so long to actually get this money? It literally takes seconds for me to deposit money from my NETeller account into my Stars account, and it's there. I have the money on Stars, and NETeller shows the money debited from my account. So why does it take so long to go the other way?

This brings me to my next dumb question. How does an EFT work? Let's say I go to the bank, and I have a balance of $0 in my account, and I deposit $500 in cash into my account. I then go home, and use IGMPAY to deposit that $500 onto Party Poker, and it's on there within seconds. How does Party ever actually get this money? So far it's all just numbers on a screen. The whole thing actually really confuses me...so please enlighten me.

Thanks for putting up with my stupidity.

As I understand, an EFT works exactly the same as writing as a check.

Right, they've basically extended you $500 credit until the check clears. Which is why you can't cash out more than that until it clears.

[/ QUOTE ] They try to detect different types of fraud before issuing any cash outs. That's why it takes longer. Of course, they're also happy if you decide to cancel the cashout.

How does an EFT work?

[/ QUOTE ] EFT stands for electronic funds transfer. That, pretty well, describes how it works. Your bank electronically transfers funds from your bank account to Pokerstars. The actual process takes several days to be completed. Pokerstars fronts you the money until the deposit is completed.
