Default basic Q question (low content)

I sure certain of you out there will think this is a trivial bad beat post, so I'll let you know I'm really trying to figure this out.

QQ, button first round, 4-5 limpers. Raise preflop to t80, pick up several 2-3 callers. Flop comes Kxy, 2 suits. Limper bets 1/3 pot into me. My move?

Next hand is similar, except this time flop comes KXXr (paired) and same action? Does it even matter what the non-King cards are?

Flame away...

what is a guy going to bet out at you through a field that large that doesn't beat QQ in each scenario?

(raise more preflop)

This is the theme of the day in dfscott posts.

I think running bad has got mr dfscott scared to raise big amounts preflop.

Raise damn you, raise!

Actually, I think I'm overcompensating. I got grief from the board with my 3BB + (2*limpers*BB) rule for raising too much. So I dropped back to raising less. But I guess I gotta raise more in level 1.

DF, you have a history as a limit player right? Exorcise it.

Ok, maybe that wasn't the cause.

moves are fine. make moves. don't make very low percentage moves. getting involved for lots of chips in situations where it would make no sense for your opponent to not have you drawing slim is a bad bad thing.

a hand i played in a fairly douchelike manner today, for example:
ministep5, 25/50 blinds, 8 players left, i've got 1400 chips, and opponent has 1500.

i'm dealt KK in the bb, ep raises to 150, villain calls. folded to me, i make it 500 or 550. ep folds, villain calls.

flop comes down AQJ two diamonds, i have no diamond, and i push.

not incredibly similar hands, but very similar mistakes, to your hand.

amongst the many mistakes i made here are that if i decide that i want to play for my whole stack and that i'm likely ahead, i should check the flop first to act.
