All current 64-bit CPUs are backwards compatible with 32-bit instruction.

I know that. My Athlon64 works great with regular 32bit XP. But the 64bit WindowsXP has compatibility problems with some widespread software. The beta versions had several issues. And I would like to know that the partypoker software will work in 64bit WindowsXP before I consider trying it out.

Windows on Windows 64 (WOW64 for short) intercepts any 32-bit instructions and upconverts them into native 64-bit instructions. It then issues the native instructions, and converts the results back to 32-bit format.

Short answer: It should.
