lets consider this, Dr. Poker...

AA vs. J10s, KQ, 9-10, 44, 88, 7-9s, and Q10....to the river

hope you flop a set, and turn a full!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

you're right. I really envy KQ and JTs position in this hand. Genius post with tons of insight.

But 10K hands is a decent demographic.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is one of Lestats points. 10k isn't a decent demographic by itself.

10k is maybe a week and 1/2 for many online players. Some even a week. It's about a whole 2 months for live players. Many bad players run well for 2 months live.

It's nothing to base any conclusions based on results to # of hands. I think he brought up a good point about the vets recognizing concepts that aren't being understood. We see that all the time. But we'll see what happens when the downswings come and the ones who post those types of posts go 20-30k hands w/o showing any profit at all or they're down.

Congrats on the first 10k. It's the equivalent of a dragster burning off his tires before the actual race.

But one point still stands....If you put AA against seven other hands and see them all to the river....you're toast.

Why can't there be a little more respect for someone who posts here that is otherwise unknown?

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe his post wasn't a work of staggering genius, but Tx does have a point. If you aren't a regular poster here and post a question/scenerio that doesn't lean far into advanced poker thinking and is otherwise "standard" or has a logic flaw in it that appears obvious, that post will either be flamed or flat out ignored. I'm not pointing fingers here, this is merely a trend I've noticed and I'm sure others have as well. And I think it harms the discussion. It causes many would be posters (such as myself) to continue lurking instead of throwing their ideas into the ring for fear of being dubbed a message board troll or having their ideas met with short, sarcastic quips like this:

Only a handful of players regularly post here and I don't think its because only handful of players have anything decent to add to the discussion. So instead of taking a "you're wrong and you're an idiot for even posting this trash" approach, how about a "you're wrong and here's why" approach instead. Some of you do take that approach and for that this lurker is grateful. This board had helped my game tremendously and I hope it doesn't become one where only the popular kids get heard. My 2 cents. Flame away.

The stock response to this is that this is a Mid-high stakes forum and we are not here to help new players understand basic concepts. However, some posters do go out of their way to answer relatively simple questions. That is whay Lestat has done here. What gets flamed are arrogant posts by people with few hands and low post count. Also flamed are aggregious errors in fundamental poker, like not understanding what "pot odds" means and asking MHL players to explain it to you (in reference to a recent post).
