I'm surprised nobody mentioned the OOT method of transporting cash safely.

My bank doesn't give me free checks, but if can get them from AAA then that's the winning idea.

I'm glad I don't venture into OOT.

I don't even want to know.

Dude, open a players bank or whatever as you pass Commerce on your way to TJ. Commerce will accomodate you. If you have to, just talk to one of the floor people in the top section. Most of the employees there are really friendly and customer oriented. They will find a way to accomodate your.

$1,000 or $2,000 in the spare tire compartment of my car or something like that may be doable though and is seeming like the most hassle free way to do this.

I don't know if this is confirmed fact, but I've heard that the trace amounts of cocaine on $100 bills can be detected when in large numbers by drug sniffing dogs. Since dectection of hidden money = cavity search, I think I'd either make sure this is urban legend or find another way to go.

cocain is a hell of a drug

Your bank should give you free Traveler's Checks, if not mine charges $15 to wire money. Call Commerce to see how to wire money and be sure that someone working Sunday knows about it.

Wiring is your only option. I don't know about commerce but I have credit lines at a few dif casinos and if I am going to stay awhile and need more than my credit line I wire money and tell them to pick up the fees. And they do.
Tell commerce your thinking about visiting them or AC and then explain your dilemma. They may pick up the tab to get your action.

I would in no way enter Mexico with that amount of cash. Last time i was in TJ i took off all jewelry and carried only $200 and my ID.

TJ is not Mexico... it's no man's land.

PS: wire the money, or use OOT's option. Out of the two, I advise wiring unless you like KY.

That's what I assumed it was TT, thanks for the visual.

I'll give Commerce a call tomorrow and see if I can set up some sort of wire.

Just call and find out what they have to offer, maybe stop by and drop the money off before TJ, or maybe send a check like someone else mentioned. Im sure there are other people in the same situation. I know I hate carrying around that much cash. I just sold a car and was walking around with 4500 in 100 dollar bills, and although I suddenly had a notion for a vegas trip, I felt nervous for 2 days while having that mcuh $$ until I put it down on a new car.
I think whatever you do, you shouldnt leave the money in the car, or take it to TJ, either way I see bad things happening.

Id like to know how you work it out.
