How did it make you feel when you found out that your friend was killed?

Why do interviewers ask such questions?

A friend of mine claims that a sports interviewer (Rod Black for those Canadians here) once asked someone (don't remember who),

"Your father's dying wish was to see you win a world championship, how does it feel to have let him down?"

Or something along those lines. I believe the sport was hockey, and it was a world championship or Stanley Cup or something. Regardless, I'm glad that interviewers ask stupid questions with obvious answers rather than asking questions like the above.

The dumbest interviewer of all time. It's astounding she got regarded as some kind of top level interviewer. It was sheer pain listening to her interviews.
