Default 3-betting flop for ???

is this appropriate?

villain is 17.3/12.6/1.78 after 530 hands

i don't think my raise is really for a free card as the subject indicates because if he has an ace there's only 2 cards that will help me. so is there any point in raising? i've 3-bet before in situations like this, and sometimes on complete bluffs, so is such a move profitable? if i'm not going to raise i can't see calling as a good choice because certainly he'll bet out again on the turn. should i call down? swallow my pride and give up my krangs?

Party Poker 3.00/6.00 Hold'em (5 handed) link

Turn: (6.17 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: (6.17 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.17 BB.

edit: looking at this again maybe it's appropriate and then follow it up with a bet on the turn and folding to any further aggression by him. ja?

No. WA/WB situation. Easy call down.

i think this will be an Ace a very huge % of the time vs this villain. The board is pretty dry and in terms of draws.

Raising for a free card here is ridiculous, you will be spending an extra SB to hit a 22-1 shot.

3betting here is spewing imo. Id be very tempted to fold to the flop raise.

I much rather bet the turn and then check-behind on the river unimproved here, since you don't want to give any free cards to an opponent who would have folded to your turn bet. I think that line is superior to possibly enticing a river bluff in this situation.
