How should I have played this out?

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG calls.

Flop: (11 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font>
SB checks, UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, CO calls, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises</font>, SB folds, UTG folds, Hero calls, CO calls.

I would have 3-bet the flop. If capped, then fold the turn unimproved. Or bet and fold to a raise.

I play it the same way as you then blurt out an obscenity as I lose to his 86 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Why would you fold any overpair against a superfish? He could very well have Q7 and think his pair of 7's is golden. I play the same way as it was posted. If he flopped a straight, good for him.

I would have 3-bet this flop, adn called down if it got capped, if it just got called than I'd have bet out any non A,K,Q or [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the turn.

3-bet the flop or check/raise the turn. I believe I prefer 3-betting the flop.

You need to be more aggressive than OP. We need to try and fold overcards in the hands of CO.

I think you forgot to 3-bet the flop.

If you do that, this hand is much easier to play afterwards.

Folding as part of a play versus an ubber fish is flat out horrid. Especially with a solid pair relative to the board.
