The "observation" was indeed an insult, regardless of whether or not he was trying to describe the circumstances surrounding the hand. Even if he was only setting up the scenario for the hand itself, he could have simply said something like, "The SB had been in a trash-talk session with a drunk at the table and appeared agitated." At that point, he could have described the hand as it played out, and we wouldn't have lost any play-revelant information.

Instead, he laced his "description" of me with derrogatory comments and wannabe psychoanalysis.

The insults weren't really the reason I responded, though. I felt that he didn't correctly describe my interactions with the drunk, making it seem like some jock was picking on me and I was agitated because of my "self esteem issues". This, in turn, supposedly was causing me to play hands against EVERYONE overaggressively.

However, the reality situation was that it was me starting up with the drunk, and my "overaggressive" play turned out to be correct play with pocket tens in that situation.

Above all, though, there's something I haven't yet mentioned that strikes me as really odd:

The aforementioned game didn't take place a day ago, a week ago, or even 2 weeks ago.

It took place a month ago.

Why post all of this now? In fact, how does he even remember the details of the hand so well? It's not like the hand itself was particulary interesting or memorable. Pocket tens versus a flush draw shorthanded. Lots of bets on the flop, check-check turn, bet-call river. Simple. Done. I forgot the whole thing until I read the entire thread.

Has this been eating at him for so long to where he finally had to let it out, in order to move on with life? I don't read twoplustwo much, but typically I've seen people describe hands within a few days of being played, rather than a month later.

At the time, I was wearing my "shiny WSOP bracelet" because I had just won it a few days beforehand.

Anyway, Gift, if you wake up with any more nightmares regarding drunks, jocks, and nerds from month-old games, feel free to post them here. Well, either here or the "Psychology" forum, where they might be more suitable.

Speaking as a nerd with self-esteem issues....I must say that your posts in this thread are hammering home both of those descriptions

There is not nearly as much venom intended on here as you think there is.

Take care,
tpir
