Re: Varience....
Ouch. That 175 BB swing at ~20k looks fun. You must be bad at poker .
Of course, that would mean I was bad at poker, too. |

Re: Varience....
I played about 2000 hands yesterday, net profit was 150BB. However, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM, I lost 30BB.

Re: Varience....
Yeah, I have an 8k stretch of hands there where my W$SD dropped to 45 and everyone was hitting their 3-outers and 5-outers. I'm just thankful it came later in my poker career when I already had some profits cushioning that swing.
If I'd run into that right out of the gate, I'd probably have quit poker and been "that guy" in the zoo running around screaming poker is rigged |

230 hands later and I'm +4bb for the session alltogether,
30bb swing there and back again, I guess I'm not used to swings that wild...apparently they get wilder, I better get used to it. Thanks guys |

Thanks guys [/ QUOTE ] Ya know, when I first moved up to .5/1 I made a 'poor me' whiner post and immediately moved out of the red. I think I'll do the same now since I've gotten a shitty run of cards since moving to 2/4. GOD DAMNIT - why does somebody ALWAYS have a better flush the one time my draw comes in? How come a table full of calling stations suddenly becomes a supreme rock garden when I get AA? There, time to move into the black. |

Re: Varience....
Ill echo others. 30 bb isnt much at all.
And youre correct, you need to shor up and be ready for whent he real downswing comes. And it will. You'll think to yourself "Damn , this time is worse than it's ever been before." And you'll eventually find yourself thinking that again the next one. I think being mentally prepared for a downswing is important. Remind yourself as you play that you should be worrying about how well you played and made decisions rather than how much you're down. I speak from experience. I hit one of those mythical big downswings. By the time I was down over 150 BB I was not playing properly any longer. I tried changing the way I played, assuming that the bad results mustve been because I was not playing well. Bad mistake. My downswing got to 250 BB and I finally took a break and moved down a limit. I only post this in hopes that you can avoid losing more than you have to when it happens to you. |
