Default Q9o in sb

Had a 15 BB downswing today, so i need to fix my game before these nasty swings get to me...

$10/20 5 handed
Loose player limps, TAG limps, one fold, i complete in sb with Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] , BB checks.
flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

i check, bb checks, loose player checks, TAG bets, i raise, folded to TAG who threebets. I call.

Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check-call

River: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

What now? And what did i do wrong so far?

Can't he have a worse nine? 77?

He could have a worse nine or 77, but that's kind of wishful thinking. You seem to be thinking he may have hands that you WANT him to have, not that you think are actually likely. This is a bad habit and one to try to break.

I don't like the raise preflop with such bad position especially against a TAG. The three-bet means trouble from him and I don't see you ahead many times. Being 5 handed he does have a wider range of hands but I really don't like the OOP raise PF.

It was a decent flop for you though, none the less, and I think you may be ahead enough of the time to c/c down but once the ace comes, the board pairs and he 3-bets you it doesn't look likely.

No raise preflop, i just completed.

But you might still be right about the hand, just figured he might have a few hands that i beat, and that it might be worth calling down.

This made me laugh pretty hard.

As for the hand, I think completing in the SB is bad here. Also, just bet the flop, as you can't count on a bet, and you don't know where it will be comming from. As for the river, I think you are almost always chopping, so just check and call.

T9, J9, Q9, K9.

Although we are splitting with all of these hands now.

I am not worried about the ace, as it is unlikely he would 3-bet the flop with any ace high hand that he didn't raise preflop.
