Re: Chopping etiquette
[ QUOTE ]
I don't chop. It intimidates a lot of players and tends to make them play more straightforwardly when they are in a pot with me. [/ QUOTE ] Uhh no it doesn't. It pisses people off and causes them to tighten up agaisnt you. You never want to look like a prick at a table unless you are in a tourniment. Yea maybe the guy to your left or right may lose to you when you are the blind, but the rest of the table notices and will act accordily. |

Re: Chopping etiquette
I don't believe in chopping. Once a guy got really pissed that I didn't want to chop. 2/5 blinds he has 44, I have jacks, he loses $700, all the action is preflop...
Why chop, especially when you are in the BB and have position on your opponent. |

Why chop, especially when you are in the BB and have position on your opponent. [/ QUOTE ] There are many reasons why. Most of the people you win money off of are regular opponents. You do not want to piss them off and play tighter against you. Do you understand why? |

Re: Chopping etiquette
There are obviously pros and cons to anything.
Pissing your opponent off is not necessarily a bad or a good thing. Your opponents playing tighter against you is not necessarily a bad or a good thing. An added andvantage of not chopping is that if your opponent is a 'chopper', he probably has little hu experience, so this can be exploited. |

Not because you are a "better" player, but because you scare the fish away. Let me guess, you wear sunglasses and do chip tricks too? |

Re: Chopping etiquette
I rarely if ever play at the casino because its very inefficient to do so with online poker and 400 hands an hour.
I am a clutz and can't do chip tricks. And I don't believe in reading Sklansky or a lot of poker books because I believe they can only hurt my game. I don't talk that much online but I generally noticed that the pissed players are usually easier to win off than the composed players. |

[/ QUOTE ] In the casino (where at 3/6 there's a really good chance they loose-passive-suck) they stop "having fun" sooner and take their money home sooner. I like the idea of creating a fun atmosphere where people can leave thinking: "Hey...I'd have spent that much taking my wife out to dinner and to a show. So no big deal. I'll be back." |

Re: Chopping etiquette
Why do people even get pissed off if you don't want to chop? I don't play live so I don't get why this is a problem. You'd think fish would love to play HU so they can LAG it up. Where am I going wrong here?
