Default More tales of eating, drinking and JUKEBOXING

Alright, first things first. Friday night. Drinks at Luna Park. Here I am with a couple of friends from the office, a little bit drunk and very loudly discussing how Tom Cruise is gay. Then, all of a sudden, this super-hot chick butts in to the conversation and asks me "Hey, did you say Tom Cruise was gay?" "Yeah." "I heard that too! Tell my friend about it!" And then she introduces her friend and her brother. All is good from there. Well, except for the $350 each me and my buddy Sam paid for drinks that night and dinner at Sushi Samba (awesome) and more drinks later. But, good times were had by all.

Then Saturday. Oh, I stayed home and recovered Saturday.

So, Sunday. Dinner at Esca, Mario Batali's Italian seafood place. We had the tasting menu, along with a bottle of Barbaresco (we chose a reasonably priced $75 bottle and asked the waiter if we should get something else - he said that was a great bottle rather than upsell us, so that was cool) and then a couple glasses of Pinot later. All in all $150 each. It was very good, but I was a little underwhelmed. I'd rather go to Wolfgang's for steak or Nobu (or various other places) for sushi before visiting Esca again.

But then, we went to Dick's Tavern. What a crap bar, what a great jukebox.

Here's what we played:

Liz Phair - Why Can't I (I wanted to hear Liz and they didn't have anything better)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - My Friends

John Anderson - Straight Tequila Night

Allman Brothers - Midnight Rider

Big Head Todd & The Monsters - Bittersweet

Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive

Blur - Song 2

Counting Crows - Mr. Jones

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary

Lynyrd Skynrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Now, somewhere in the middle of this, there was a little bit of trouble. This jukebox has a "play double and jump ahead of people who pay normal price." Someone took advantage of this and we had to listen to some Matchbox 20 in the middle of our set. That won't happen again. Any New Yorkers who would like to dominate this jukebox should PM me and perhaps we can meet up at Dick's Monday night.

Here are the first five songs I'll play my next visit:

Guns and Roses - Sweet Child of Mine

Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated

Avril Lavigne - Complicated

Weezer - Say It Ain't So

Warren Zevon - Lawyers, Guns, & Money

The most awesom park of Luna Park is going to the bathroom in the park house with all the union square degenerates.

"The Sun" and "Must Get Out" are my favorites. "Shiver" is good but may be a little too much like "This Love." Just don't go expecting "great" music. It's just nice to listen too.

I'm not putting two Maroon 5 songs on the jukebox. Pick one and I'll consider giving it a try, even though I'm pretty confident they suck really bad based on the two songs I've heard on the radio.
