Doyle told me not to go broke in unraised pots...
but I don't know what to do here. I don't want to let him see the turn cheaply but any hand that gives me action on my flop 3-bet probably has me crushed.
Check flop? Just call his turn raise and reevaluate? What do I do if a blank hits the turn? Me and villian have $400. 1st hand at table and no read. CO calls, Button calls, I check in the BB w/ T9o. Flop is Ks Ts 9c. I bet the pot ($14.) CO folds, Button makes it $30. I make it $110? |

Any reads on villain? How I play this would be 100% player dependent. Some people I'm more then happy to play a big pot with here. Others, not so much.

My first hand on table. Never played with villian before, and I'm on a site where you can't datamine.

Sorry I read your OP too fast and didn't see the "first hand no reads disclaimer."
This spot sucks. I'd probably raise as well in the 90-110 range and plan to fold to even a min-reraise. If he smooth calls my action on the turn would depends lots on the card. |

Meh so many draws, I think I just call and play the turn. Lead for 60 on a blank, fold to a really bad card like Q or J spades and deal with the rest.

Re: Doyle told me not to go broke in unraised pots...
Of course a read would help a lot, but without one I'm not sure I like the reraise. Villain is probably on a big K or a flush draw, which means you've got to slow down if the turn brings a spade, K, or even a Q or J, I could see villain limping and then min-raising the flop with KQ or KJ here so if a Q or J hits he might luck his way into a straight or two bigger pair...
And you might be behind on that flop anyway if he limped with QJ, KT, something like that. Without a read, I'm calling his min-raise and playing it cautiously from there. |

Re: Doyle told me not to go broke in unraised pots...
Well, the good news is you're almost certainly not drawing dead.
Against an unknown here, I think I like calling and leading a blank turn folding to a raise, seems unlikely he'd raise you with a worse hand or a draw after that action. If the draw hits the turn, I would be torn between bet/folding, check/folding and check/raising as a value bluff, depending on the player. Then check/call blank river if he just calls. If it hits... block bet a passive player, probably check/fold v. an aggro. |

Re: Doyle told me not to go broke in unraised pots...
Thanks for the responses. I think the best line is too definetely call the flop raise and act on the turn based on what the card is.
In the actual hand, villian folded to the 3-bet after much deliberation. He asked me in the chad if I had KT, and I told him my hand (I know I shouldn't, I guess I was just in a good mood.) He said he had K9. Of course he could be full of it but he sounded sincere (as sincere as you could sound in an online chat box.) |

Re: Doyle told me not to go broke in unraised pots...
I just call the raise on the flop and lead a blank turn 2/3 pot or so, if he raises I release the hand.
