Default Internet Poker Sites

I'm new to internet poker and this site as well. I read about this site in both Phil Gordon's book and the Sports Illustrated article. So, I dont know if this is the right forum for this post but its my best guess.

Anyway, I was curious as to what you think is the best internet poker site and why?

Thanks!

I don't usually post in this forum, but I am sure you will have a lot of luck using the "Search" feature above.

here are some relevant criteria:
1) loose games
2) lots of active players
3) good software
4) good customer support
5) bonuses

Different sites are better or worse in these and other respects.

1) Most are loose at the lower limits (below $1/2). Partypoker is looser at middle limit than many others.
2) see http://www.pokerpulse.com/
3) paradisepoker is my favorite, except for 3 table limit and slow to recognize that you've left your table. partypoker sucks. crypto, stars, prima are mediocre.
4) partypoker customer service is utterly horrible, so are the cryptologic sites. Paradise is good, some primas are good, some aren't.
5) shoot for 50% first deposit bonus...some sites have that; thegamingclub (prima) has 300% if i recall, but u have to play 2/4 or up.

Keep in mind that there are very few stand-alone poker sites anymore most are part of networks (party, cryptologic, prima, etc.)

If you have a friend with an account already, tell him you are interested in playing... both of you can get a referral bonus at many of the sites. If you click an affliate link, they get the reward. You can also sign up for rake-back, roughly 20%-30% back to you. You can also get sign-up gifts with some affliates in addition to first deposit bonus from poker room.

Thanks a lot, that was very helpful.

Just out of curiosity, why do you say partypoker sucks? My friend has an account there so he is referring me there.

Maybe let me just say what I am looking for.

I want to play one table at a time.
The type of game I am looking for, at least for now, is probably $50 buy in no limit. So under those criteria, what site would you recommend?

Thanks
