Default First time to Borgata

Yeah, I've never been before. I think I'll be stopping in on Friday night and leaving saturday, it's on my way back to school in NC.

Could I get some advice, how it is compared to Foxwoods. Used to foxwoods 2/4, 4/8. Not talking about play so much (probably gonna do 6/12, it sounds comparable) as like little things that I can do to save myself time etc.

candycane-style stacks (alternating red/white)rule in 6/12, and make the game go faster, so buy equal amounts of red and white at the cage. everyone else at the table will have only red and will need change made every hand.

To save yourself time? The alternating red/white stack is an excellent tip, it definitely speeds things up. Also I would suggest finding someone who's going to be down there already to put your name on a list - if you're planning on going on a Friday night, you may be waiting quite a while once you get there and get your name on a list, as it's usually quite crowded.

Remember to stare at the waitresses often and in long quantities as they are (a) ridiculously hot and (b) see A.

And it's not even close.

Call now to get a room at the poker rate. They might be out of them but they probably won't be yet. You'll have to sign up for a "My Borgata" card over the phone when you book the room--that's fine, you want one.

When you check in, go to your room, call the poker room and get put on the lists. The list for any game below 10/20 or maybe 20/40 will be despicable on a Friday night, so hop into the shower and then walk down in a good mood about how freaking cool your room is. If you're Brad, wear the shower cap.

Now look around the poker room and smile. Realize that you're not at Foxwoods so (1) there are people who aren't AARP members, (2) there are people who aren't ugly, (3) they serve booze all night without some pansy ass "last call", (4) everyone doesn't hate you and everyone else, and (5) the staff of the poker room is actually wants you to have a good time while playing in a fast, well run game.

Make sure you clock in when you start playing and clock out when you stop. If you ask the floorperson to call the hotel about your poker rate when you finish playing, they'll call ahead and you won't have to wait for them to call during checkout.

Oh yeah, and the waitresses are hot.

And get the corned beef at the snack bar.

Thanks for the tips Scrub. I have a feeling my trip next week to the Borgata is going to be so much better than my day trip to the Trop this past summer(my first time to AC). First off the card room was dingy and smelled awful (especially the old lady sitting to my right). I still remember my first significant hand. I had AKo in EP and some guy called all the way down with 3's and hit a set on the river(he did know to raise). The waitresses were hideous as were many of the people at my table (and everywhere for that matter, the dregs!)And lastly while sitting on the tour bus (first row) waiting for the bus driver to sort out the paper work, some guy without teeth steps up onto the bus and asks me why I was trying to draw attention to myself (he points out that my shirt was on backwards; Ironically I had it inside-out for a monochromatic look so NOT to draw attention to myself). Unlike him, I had a lot to lose, so I didn't wail on his malnutritioned mouth. He stared me down for a few seconds and then scurried out when the bus driver returned. So basically my first time in a casino sucked.
