Re: 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10
i understand why going wild with bottom 2 and 150bb stacks isnt always the best idea in the world but against anyone i would describe as a "total monkey" im pretty thrilled about shoveling in a lot more money than you did here. i dont really understand why you played it the way you did. he cant overplay his hand if you dont let him.

Re: 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10
bet turn, his play in this hand is very confusing. He check-minraises you, but then checks the turn and then fires out tiny on the river? KK is certainly betting this turn, so is AA probably, QQ isn't and might have check-minraise bluffed you to get out on the flop, but why would he check in the first place? What hand does he raise with preflop and then check the flop, check the turn, bet tiny on the river, his line makes NO sense.

You leave too much money on the table by checking the turn. Bet about 350 and fold to a raise.
If the guy's a total monkey, and checkraises you and then checks the turn, I expect to see a king, pocket pair, or flush draw a good deal of the time here. Looks like he was just hoping you weren't interested in the hand. |

Re: 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10
Nobody wants to 3-bet the flop here? I am gonna make it 500 here or so, monkey is gonna push with AK or AA, or maybe with a flush draw, or KQ, or who knows. Sure, every once in a while he has KK, but such is life. If he calls, I am sticking the rest in on most turns.
Donkeys like to stick cash in the pot when they shouldn't. You need to give him the chance to do so (especially in this spot, your hand is very vulnerable). Instead, you decide to get fancy, call the flop, check behind the turn (bet and call a raise, as Diablo et al say), and have to call the small bet on the river. Hooray for fancy play syndrome! -muz |
