Re: The best No limit book for a small stakes cash game player?
My favorite is Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker by Bob Ciaffone and Stewart Reuben. I can crush the small buy in NL games. However,
I would also get The Theory of Poker by David Skalansky, since this will give you furhter tools to properly analize NL situations you will find yourself in. Both books got a 10 from Mason Malmuth. |

Re: The best No limit book for a small stakes cash game player?
I was about to post the same question, luckily I found this one, and my neck and head are still intact Any more input from other poker players/interested poker readers? With less than 10 replies to the original post, Theory of Poker ranks 1 so far. What about Harrington's new book? Is it geared towards tournaments/cash games/both? How about the (outdated??) SuperSystem?
Forget noobie books. I want good books geared towards "Small Stakes No limit Hold'em!" |

David Sklansky's No Limit Book which will come out this summer. It is innovative, yet as familiar as your blanky.

I just finished HoH. Since I have very little NLHE experience I will refrain from giving a review. However, I can say that its focus is exclusively tournaments. Obviously you may be able to apply some of it to cash games, but again, I'll leave a more specific critique to better players.

[/ QUOTE ] The idea is the HoH:Vol 1 was written for the early stages of the tournament where theoretically the chips have not changed value much so the game should play much like a deep or medium stacked NL cash game. However, the psycology of the tournament is different because others are trying to survive and avoid marginal situations. This makes "continuation" and "probe" bets more profitable in tournaments that they are in cash games and steals will be less succesful in NL cash games. Besides that HoH's examples provide good practice for NLHE cash game players as long as they keep those differences in mind. |

There is a new book coming out May 1 by Conjelco.
Mastering No Limit Hold Em by Russell Fox. Not sure how good it will be. http://www.conjelco.com/poker.html#Mastering%20No-Limit%20Hold'em |
