Early NHL predictions this year...
Who will go to the Stanley Cup finals? who will win it all? I will make one early but safe prediction the worst team in the league will be... The Capitals |

Re: NHL Predictions
I won't hold my breath, but I'll say the Canucks.
Philly, and Chicago got some good FA's, they look tough. |

Re: NHL Predictions
It's tough to say at this point, especially since rosters aren't set. The Flames are going to be tough this year - if Kiprusoff was not a 1-year wonder, then they could go deep. The West seems pretty wide open. Nobody stands out.
The Canucks will be lucky to make the second round - Cloutier can't do it. The East is the better conference by far. On paper, the Sens and Philly seem to be the favourites, both with huge problems in net. Pittsburgh isn't there yet. Boston could contend, and if the Leafs stay healthy (ha ha) they'll be tough to stop. Tampa & Florida both seem good for the playoffs too. Upon reviewing my post, I seem to have typed a lot and not said much... It's still too early to say, especially since teams are not done filling out their rosters. I guess based on the current situation, I'll say Ottawa & Philadelphia fight it out for the cup in the Eastern final, and roll over whoever wins the West. As a Toronto fan, I have to say that sucks. |

They won't go very deep until they ship Cloutier, he's proven time and time again he can't carry them. Calgary will be good this year. Hey, on the bright side: at least the Leaf's signed a 32-year old concussion-prone has-been |

Re: NHL Predictions
Impossible to predict. Right now in the West, it appears that every team has a shot at the playoffs. In the East, it looks like only the Capitals, Hurricanes, and Rangers have no chance - Florida and Buffalo's chances are slim as well (and Pittsburgh but don't tell them that).
The reason I say it's impossible to predict is because no one is coming back with a stable roster of offense and defense that they can rely on. The Flames were great in the playoffs in 03-04, but on paper their lineup is very average. Philadelphia made some huge moves this summer but they've lost at least seven and maybe as many as ten players from their playoff run in 03-04. Toronto, who was always contending pre-lockout, lost six future Hall of Famers but picked up 2 guys who would've been HOFers if not for injury, as well as Jeff O'Neill. But there are some teams who've stayed stable.. so my prediction is the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and Ottawa Senators meet in the 2005-06 Stanley Cup Finals, with the Senators winning in 6. |

Anything can happen in the playoffs (Calgary). The teams I like to go far. Ottawa (Someone said goalie problems. I say Hasek. Losing Prusek as a backup hurts though) Boston (Unless Raycroft is a 1 year wonder) Pittsburgh (before Burke i'd say No. All they need now is a defensive Dman) Philly (going back on what i said in an earlier post) Anaheim (7 games in the final 2 years ago, with a better team now) Vancouver (Almost the same 101 point team they had last year) Minnesota (Fast, 2 goalies, good coach, probably debated by many) Dallas (Turco, mobile defense, good forwards) rJ |

They have a good gritty team. but who's going to put the puck in the net? Ottawa, Philly, Calgary, Vancouver & Detroit seem like easy choices for good seasons. Anybody else like LA or Boston this year? |
