SB 99 check-raise flop???
What WAS I thinking by c/r-ing this flop???
I think I was thinking that a c/r would be saying, "Hey, look at me! I have either a pretty good pocket pair or a Q. What do you think of that?" But then UTG+2 calls both that and the turn lead. Three questions: 1. Have I pretty much forced myself into check-calling the river at this point, even though I'm fairly sure I'm beat? 2. Is a check-raise on this flop ever a good idea? 3. Should I quit poker and start a local Alizee Fan Club? UTG is 22/2/2 over 100 hands. UTG+2 is 30/12/1.5 over 60 hands. Button is 50/0/0.6 over 20 hands. Re: SB 99 check-raise flop???
This looks fine. I like to check the river in spots like this to give AK or AJ a chance to make a stupid bluff at the pot.

Re: SB 99 check-raise flop???
Looks fine to me. I don't think he's going to pay you off on the river with a worse hand very often, so a check/call there is ok.
It's hard to tell how often he'd fold something like JJ or TT, which would be the real reason for betting the river. |
