Default laptop question

This has probably been asked before, but...

I'm thinking about getting a laptop and was wondering if there is anyway to get the display out to 2 dell monitors when the laptop is at home. Thanks.

If you get the XPS, yes. It has both DVI & VGA output.

What about if I get a laptop with 1 DVI output and get a DVI splitter cable for the 2 monitors... Do you think that would work? The XPS costs a bit more than I was looking to pay.

Nope. That's only one signal being produced by the computer, you can split it as many times as you want, but you'll only get one output screen replicated x-times.

Now, I've got to go take over a tv station.

Yeah, that was my original thought as well... but there is a guy where I work that has one dvi output on his computer and uses a splitter cable to get the desired effect. I'm just not sure if you could produce the same results on a laptop instead of a desktop. I would think that you could, but I'm probably overlooking something.
