Default Re: games in Bulgaria

[ QUOTE ]
In a casino named Radisson in the centre of Sofia (the capital of BG)
Game is Texas Holdem Pot Limit. Blinds vary from $5/10 up to $20/40.

Why are you asking :-)?

[/ QUOTE ]

I am sometimes in Croatia. I have been meaning to explore countries close by, and this might make Sofia that much more attractive

Well, they are also opening another table in another casino soon (Zografski Hotel I think)

As for the game, it is wild - people paying pot bets on each street with top pair Q kicker and so on. Many of them come and learn the rules of the game by doing (and losing their winnings from the roulette or black jack). Couple of millionaires have been playing for two months now and think they are unbeatable...

For a good tight player with an adequate bankroll it could be a gold mine

Default Re: Blind Raise From The UTG Player counted as 3d blind

[ QUOTE ]
Considering you couldn't even recognize a live straddle when OP described it to you, I could see how you might be mistaken here. I straddle very rarely, but when I do, it's because the table has gotten really tight. I usually play 6/12 and those games shouldn't be tight, so when it happens, one or two live straddles wakes everyone up.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've seen that argument before but disagree. Low limit games are rarely tight, and if they are they don't stay that way for long. The 2 or more BB that you will lose most of the time when straddling is too high a cost for the result you hope to achieve.

If the game is so tight that the only way you can see it loosening up is by straddling, I'd suggest you find a different game.

Now, obviously this is one of those subjective things that we will never agree on, so I'm happy to just say "you play your way and I'll play mine." I do not mind straddlers at my table -- I welcome them and the dead money they add to the pot.

I don't know why, but I hate straddles. Here is an extreme example that happened in a live 1/2 NL game I was in about a month ago.

I'm the small blind ($1). UTG straddles for $4. UTG+1 straddles for $8....and so forth, all the way down to the button who straddles for $64. This is all before a single card has been dealt!

I guess it was to my advantage because it only cost me $1 to see my cards but it still freaked me out.
