With five players waiting to overcall, you should just call the turn. Note that the SB is the player most likely to have you beaten, there's no reason to isolate now. If the river pairs the board, you'll be glad you waited. And by waiting, you give the other guys the chance to catch up some when they're all drawing dead. Anybody that hits that river queen may well call two cold (though even raising the river is not absolutely clear if all five players come along on the turn).

Good luck.
Eric

That's not a big pot yet. You raise, you're facing the field with 10:2 odds.

Raising the flop with five players still to act and a near lock on a pot which is not currently very big would be a tremendous mistake, just as it was to raise the turn. What are you hoping to accomplish? What's the big hurry to knock out players that are drawing dead?

Good luck.

everything will call you

Methinks you exaggerate a bit. Anyways, if people want to raise this flop fine. There has been a lot of BAD slowplay hands, this isn't one of them.

Don't slowplay sets ever

[/ QUOTE ]

Like virtually all poker maxims, this is terrible advice and it fails miserably in this hand.

So you dont want the people to call the flop raise with 10:2 odds, these people will call anything thats what they do, raise the flop, then there will be soo much money on the turn they will call, you will make more money especially if someone hits a 2 pair or something. These people will pay on the flop to see if their draws or over cards hit.

I agree 100% as shown in my post, people at .50/1 are callers they will call the flop raise, stop slowplaying sets people.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the call on this flop was OK and preferable. The post you were responding to, I was commenting that IF hero were CO I would raise this flop, which was contra to the previous posters comment.

Default Here\'s how the action should have gone.

Flop: SB bets. Hero calls. Everybody calls.
Turn: SB bets. Hero calls. Two guys call. CO raises. SB 3-bets. Hero calls, concerned that there are two hands of at least trip nine strength out and he has the worst fullhouse. Hero also notes that microlimit players are often quite conservative with their 3-bets. Two folds. CO calls. ok, now we're probably ahead of the CO.

River: SB bets. Getting 2:1 and needing to beat only the SB, Hero makes a thin value raise. CO calls. SB 3-bets. Crap. Hero calls. CO calls.

Result: Hero goes from wanting to move all in on the flop to saving two bets with his slowplay.

Good luck.
Eric

Your relative position is the key in this hand.

I call the flop, I call the turn. 3 bet or cap if it gets raised. Pound them on the river.

I want all those overcalls I can get the first pass. A 9 is going to raise here. Hopefully it comes later after a few have called one. Look at what happened on the turn. I'll say a couple of those folds call one bet then leave when it gets crazy. That's 2 (or more) extra BBs in your pot!
