This is a basic, generic question but when playing 3 handed or HU is it true that a hand like 559 or AKT go up in value while a three flush or other speculative hand will go down?

Yes because there is no such thing as a multi-way pot shorthanded... Hands that require implied odds go down in value.

yes and no. If your three flush is two to three overcards to their door then it has as much value as AK10.

Would this also apply to pot-limit, considering that you can take the other guys stack?

I don't play pot limit, but PL seems something like late tournament play which I have some (on line) experience with.

If you get a good drawing hand and your opponent lets you play cheap on the early streets, you can clean his clock if you hit. You MUST be able to play cheap early though.
