Default Have low pockets...short stack pushes for $6 (25NL)

Ran into this tonight, and couldn't decide if I wanted to call or fold...

Party Poker $25NL, about 1am ET, .25/50 blinds

Just got to table, so I have no idea how desperate villain is. I have no PT stats on him.

Hero is in late position with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

1 limper
Villain pushes all-in for his last $6
everyone else folds
Hero ???

There is still one more person to act after me.

What do you usually do here? Is this an easy call against a desperate short stack? 66 felt a little too low for me to call...but I think I'd instacall with 88+. The extra person to act made it a little tougher too.

Fold and don't think twice about it. There are much better places to get your money in at $25 NL. The very best you can hope for is two overcards which is a footrace. Add in the guy behind you existing and this is an easy fold. Calling this is just gambling to gamble at this limit.

66 is a definite fold for me. No matter how much the short stack wants to gamble with his last $6, he's not pushing wihtout two cards over a 6 and probably not with a lower pair, so it's a slightly ahead or way behind situation and we have no money invested. 99 I'd probably call, 88 I might or might not.

Default RESULTS

I did fold, in fact, and almost always do unless the guy is a maniac.

He showed AJo and I tear ran down my cheek as I saw the 2 other 6's hit the board for quads

(The other guy called with K8 !!!! )

I try to see a flop cheaply with smaller pocket pairs and get paid off for more than $6. use the 5-10 rule and go after a bigger stack...

I'm a big believer in calling pf AIs at this level, but (a) 66 is just not quite good enough (88 would be fine IMO) and (b) more importantly, there is still someone to act behind you, which makes it a raise to isolate/fold situation. He may wake up with a real hand so it's an easy fold.

Small pocket pairs are good for one thing....sets. To call a set you need 2 conditions:

1. Implied odds
2. Deep stacked foe

You have neither here, and the best case scenerio is that you are coinflipping.

$25NL has .10 / .25 blinds. This is actually very important to the question, because with $.50 blinds I would probably call a 12x BB push with 66, but I would not be calling a 24x BB push.

Cash game this is an easy fold. Tournament structure I think it's an easy call. Good example of a major difference between the two.
