Default 4-8 live 5 handed A9s utg.

4-8 live 5 handed

Game is very loose-aggressive. I'm utg with A9c and raise. UTG+1 has to be constantly reminded of the blinds/betting structure and plays K4o and 39o from any position, he almost always bets when checked to and will call down with undercards hoping to pair up. He 3bets. Folded to me and I cap.

Flop: 5s 7h 8s

I bet, he calls

Turn: 7d

I bet, he calls

River: 6c

I bet, he raises, I call.

Don't like the PF raise, don't like the cap. Maybe check-raise the river to limit your exposure to three bets. I'd like to put in anotehr raise here, but I'd hate to call a cap.

I can't imagine reasons for playing A9o UTG in a loose-aggressive game. Your mileage seems to vary.

EDIT: OK, sorry, didn't spot that it was short-handed. But still... capping seems unwise.

You'd rather limp and check/fold the flop?

Why did you slow down so fast on the river? If you suspected he had flopped a set, then fold. If not, the only semi-reasonable 5-handed holding he could have that beats you is T9s.

This is a 5-handed game folks!

You aggravated the recognition problem by calling your opponent UTG+1 instead of Cutoff.

Preflop raise is obvious.

You didn't discuss how this player feels about raises and reraises. Some otherwise very LAG players don't fight back. If his 3-bet standards are as ridiculous as the rest of his game, the cap is fine. This is strictly a "do you think you have the best hand" question.

I think you have to reraise the river. He could have a four, a seven, "three pair", or heaven only knows. If he has T9 or a boat it's just too bad. You can't play for that.

He may have just enough brain cells to realize that you can't have the straight because you capped preflop. He may cap you with a four.

Maybe I should have also mentioned he wasn't a maniac postflop. He'd bet when checked to and call down with anything, but his raises postflop weren't with [censored]. And on the river, the only semi-reasonable raising hand he could have would be T9s. I figured at best I'm a split and at worst I lose.

KT, QJ, 77, etc... those are his 3betting hands. So even if I was ahead pre, it wasn't by much.
