I'm guessing you're right. But this is a huge problem. Now everyone will start new threads instead of searching. How will that impact bandwidth costs?

Did anyone ever really do a search before starting a new thread, or is that just something we yelled at newbs to do. Personally I only ever search when looking for a thread I've already read.

Searching the archives of bajillion posts isn't cheap in terms of computing power, especially running multiple searches at the same time. I suspect this is why they added the recent 6 month time frame limitation and why this new limitation has been added.

But I agree, it sucks.

I do it. I also do a lot of searching in the strategy forums. It will really suck if we can't search in those forums. And the impact on the books forum will be insane.
