I agree this thread is tasteless, but I find it interesting that 33 people have voted already (including, I'm ashamed to admit, myself -- curious as to the results).

[/ QUOTE ]

You can see the votes without voting.

As I said before, people are venting at me here, but we all think about such things. Admit it folks.

nobody's afraid to discuss the death toll. If you want to make posts in bad taste they have to be funny. You're stupid poll is unoriginal bad taste and has no comedic value. you're a bad taste cliche. pitiful.

I really dont see how this post is disrespectful. If someone could point out a good analogy to enlighten me that would be good.

[/ QUOTE ]

How about if the Vegas sports books offered an over/under bet on the death toll? That's only a step or two beyond this poll. Would that be disrespectful?

But if you have to ask, you are not likely to be enlightened.

Here you go: Would it have been "disrespectful" to do a similar poll about 9/11 two days afterward?

The point is that many of us know people...real people... who we have yet to hear from because of this disaster. Not that empathy is a quality to be expected from others on internet forums.

Did it occur to you that there may be posters here with family members there? That they may not have heard from, etc?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure mel wouldn't care.

That was me!

When people who post here still have friends that they don't know are alive, this is a pretty shitty post and should be deleted post-haste.

Some of you who don't appreciate the tastelessness of Cindy Sheehan downgrading our troops and the media issuing daily cumulative Iraq death toll updates, now know how it feels.

This thread is in terrible, terrible taste and I hope it dies quickly.

[/ QUOTE ]

FWIW, I thought the 'can't be too careful, there's lots of blacks down there' post was one of the greatest in months, but this plain sucks.

We all think about many things that are not appropriate for public discussion. That's what differentiates those of us who are civil and mature from rude children and idiots.
