Default A9s hand

Is call down mode correct here or should I have folded on the turn for one bet? only 12 hands with villain but so far he is in about half the pots and is passive.

i wouldn't have reraised the flop after it gets HU. i would probably have called down from there w/o any reads.

u said reraise, u mean u wouldnt have raised? If thats what you mean can you elaborate a little, I mean can i really give a fish credit for a jack just because I bets? Id like to hear what you think,

he bet into you. no i'm not giving him credit for anything right now. but the range is:

1. small pocket pair, which he should fold if you raise.
2. bluff. again fold
3. flush draw. he'll stay to the end anyways, let him continue to bet into you.
4. the Jack, you'll get reraised and you have a showdown hand which is too expensive to play this way.
5. a Ace higher kicker: costs the same as calling down and letting him continue to bet. you gain 1sb less if you win, lose one less if you lose.

that's why i would call down instead of reraising his initial bet on the flop.

I think I would just call it down, from the flop bet on.

write a note on what BB showed down here and use it as a good read for the future. I might have folded the turn with a better read but i think this is ok

Hey - raising this flop pretty much sucks.
Assuming he has an A - If your 9 kicker is good on the flop, there's a good chance it'll get counterfeited by the river anyway and you'll split the pot. If your 9 kicker is no good on the flop, there's a good chance the kickers will not get counterfeited by the river and you'll lose the pot.
Of course if he has a J (unlikely) that sucks too.
If he's on a bluff, let him bluff.
A flush draw is his only holding that would make a raise worthwhile.
Still - as you played it - a turn fold would've been bad.

I play it the same way and lose to the BB with J-rag who happily called the pre-flop raise.

I would have gone into call down mode right after BB led out the flop. He could very possibly have a J for a set or an ace with a better kicker than our nine. Absent a read to the contrary, I would presume he probably called the preflop raise with something decent. Having him at 50% VPIP with only 12 hands doesn't tell you much unless you've seen him flip over something weak. Maybe he happened to get a run of good cards. If he is postflop passive as it seems so far, that is a reason to respect his flop bet more.
