Default Re: Check Raise %

Standard 200th post limerick. <ahem>

A check-raise is nice, but just wait
Worrying about a stat ain't so great
.. Sometimes it makes sense
.. But you want to make cents
And you might get more playing it straight

Well, anyhoo...bet in the hand you provided. Like Bradyams said, you haved no reason to think anyone else will bet. And, in general, I'd worry more about why you're check-raising (or doing anything) than just getting your numbers up.

In a large pot on the flop a lot of times a bet won't protect your hand, but a double bet might. This is especially good if you're in a blind or early position and someone in late position raise pf, so it's likely he'll bet. Now you c/r might knock out some people. If it gets checked around then you can get the double bet anyway, so that's not so bad.

Anyway to sum up, in a situation where the pot is large enough that a single bet won't protect your hand, the risk of it being checked through may by worth getting in a c/r that will protect your hand.
