Putting in a big raise with 84o --- +EV?

I have a fairly tight table image. The table is moderately loose, with lots of players getting knocked out after pushing with bottom pair on flops.

I'm not sure if this is a good move against this sort of table. Thoughts?

I do this every once and a while but it's extremely read specific. You have to know that the table ie extremely weak/passive.

Overall I'd say it's close to being a -EV play. You are risking 400 to win 250 early in a tourney. This is what I do not like. What will that extra 250 really do for you? And on the flip side, what will losing 400 do to you?

If you can play well post flop, i'd say it's about even on the ev side of things. If you can't, it's -EV. You get reraised and called to often in this spot to make it +EV in my opinion.

You're right, I guess but they all seemed so weak with their limps.

FYI, I got knocked out 70 places out of the money (140th). I was medium-big stack and pushed a slightly bigger stacked raiser with KK. He turned over KK and hit his flush on the river [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img].

now i remember why I don't play MTTS [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I stopped doing this because I've been called several times by TT. I usually have a pretty tight table image too, but I think at this point in the game too many players are willing to go down with a pair of 88 or so, so I don't like the play.

Flopped a straight once. Course my cards are not usually as good as 84o. Guy called me a "bot".
