Perhaps I will try a similar scheme to gain the affections of the woman who has been 'busy' the last four times that I have asked her out.

I originally felt compelled to send something. However, I started to think about this and came to the conclusion that this isn't really all about thanking a dr. It has self serving motive written all over it. Had it been a simple thank you that would fine, but when you suggest we refer to you as "my poker guru," it starts to be all about you and not about the doctor. The fact that you referred to it as your "little scheme" also seems weird. Why don't you do something personally for the dr instead of promoting yourself. Just a thought. Glad your father is doing well.

I would hope that most people realize that my poker guru comment was mentioned only to justify a thank you note regarding an otherwise complete stranger. Also perhaps I didn't make it clear that both my father and I know this doctor well on a personal level, so he should get a big kick out of this "scheme".

???

That commentary seems a bit off base, considering the situation...

WTF?

And given that Dr. Vitenson and my dad are friends, he would certainly alert him about all the cards he received. And they would both think it was cool that so many people from all over the world would do this favor for me. I think most people realized this seondary aspect of the scheme and have no problem with it.
